Untitled

Untitled depicts a grouping of dark forms with multiple holes, a species of sorts that are struggling to survive despite the increasing amounts of daily “noise” surrounding them. Often, the genesis of my sculpture starts with a strong visceral feeling. With this piece, I create clay forms with an increasing number of holes. These forms are made with rubber molds, then cast in Ultracal 30, a gypsum cement. To create the toxic environment, I painted ping pong balls in seductive shades of muted orange.
